INDIGEOUS PROGRAM

Yogaventures is owned by a proud Yirrganydji woman living on Bundjalung land. We recognise that on our collective journey to reconciliation, it's important to acknowledge, honour and pay respect to the First Nations people and the land on which practice. A way for us to do this and support our Indigenous community is through our new Indigenous Membership Program. In this program we offer 6-month memberships either in-studio or online for our our local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island friends.

How The Program Works?

In this program we offer 6-month memberships either in-studio or online for our our local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island friends.

What are the requirements?

A requirement to apply for this program is to provide Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Status

What is a Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Status?

Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Status is confirmation from an incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait organisation (stamped with the common seal). This certification is a legal document which confirms that a person:

  • Is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  • Identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
  • and Is accepted as such within the community in which they live/have lived or have a biological cultural connection to.

Why must I provide Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Status?

Yogaventures asks for Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Status to ensure that these opportunities retain their integrity and relevance to our Indigenous community. Our Indigenous-specific programs are intended to assist in addressing social, health and educational issues that Indigenous people face as the result of past removal policies and inadequate educational and health services. Requesting proof of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage from applicants helps to make sure that this intention is honoured.
